Anti-Tethering Law

On Wednesday, March 4, 2009, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners Voted unanimously in support of a resolution to ban the tethering of dogs in Fulton County. The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Robb Pitts, District 2, At-Large.

The resolution makes it unlawful to restrain or anchor a dog by means of a tether, but allows for a temporary tethering while the dog is attended by its owner or custodian. This resolution and code amendment will become effective September 4, 2009, allowing a six-month period to educate the public about the change. According to Commissioner Pitts, "This will make our community better and safer for its people and pets."

Consider Becoming a Foster Parent

Would you like another pet but can't have one at this time? Consider becoming a foster parent to a homeless pet! There are many shelters for homeless pets but they are usually crowded and rely on foster homes to continue their rescue efforts.

Living in a foster home provides the opportunity for a pet to be rehabilitated and time to prepare for adoption in their now home. Most often, the rescuing shelter will cover all expenses for your foster pet. They, in turn, ask you to open your home to your foster and bring your the pet to their adoption events. It is a win-win situation!

Here are some local groups that are looking for foster homes:
